I remember studying for the civic test with one of my friends who had to take the test as an older teenager/young adult and istg the questions were mindblowing to hear as someone who was privileged enough to be born here. I didn't know half the shit he was being tested on.

The AP has a sample test on their site and it blew me away too. Trump would never pass that test. Most U.S.-born citizens probably can't either.

Well, straight coming from the mouth of the lovely USCIS agent who had me take my oath yesterday:

- most citizens who were born in the USA couldn't take the test we just had to take to gain citizenship;

- the USA were founded by immigrants and still function thanks to immigrants becoming citizens;

- we make everyone's life better by deciding to come live here and becoming citizens; and,

- we had to show a level of squeaky clean law following abiding citizenship for all the years we've been here (yeah, even speeding tickets can be a major problem for the process) before we were even allowed to try to take the test to become citizens that most current citizens would not even get close to finish the process let alone start it ...

I wholly agree. Most wouldn't pass the civics test.
