You do good work. I would humbly ask that we not forget the way our nation treated our "allies" the Afghans who put life and limb on the line in a trust-based relationship. We made promises, and have often in the past made promises that we then, as a matter of expedience and politics, spit on.
It isn't just racism, it's classism, and narcissism, and nihilism.
Over the decades, has there been any serious comprehensive immigration bill that wasn't filled with poison pills?
For the small numbers of Congresspeople acting in good faith, the continued reinvention of the wheel seems pointless. But perhaps there are no previous bills that make sense.
I haven't seen any. Every year we see tons of patchwork legislation presented but they never go anywhere. It's all been based on Executive Orders since the 1990s except for the Patriot Act which militarized the border using "National Security" as justification after 9/11.
