Even if they find their conscience is located back with the voters they're literally abandoning to surveillance and oppression; I don't know how they expect to earn our trust back. I have never not voted when I could, but it's starting to feel like insanity.

It really does feel that way. I just don't get this strategy. How do they expect to win by being the same as the opposing party? It makes no sense.

Accelerationism is a thing, but I sure hope it's not what Democrats are going for here. Somehow it's worst than drifting slowly to the far right ...

Democrats are constantly being played by Republicans.

I've been wondering if that "being played" hasn't been "playing with" the whole time to be honest ... It's really the same in Europe where there is a huge swat of the political spectrum (not all of it) that play pretense on being in opposition.

I can't lie, it does feel scripted most of the time. For example, out of nearly 70 proposed amendments to the Laken Riley Act, only two were voted on (one from each side). Democrats voted with Republicans on one hoping Republicans would return the favor and they didn't. So the only amendment added to the bill actually made the bill worse.

It's like they never learn. Or, they're doing it intentionally.

You nailed it, I feel exactly the same ... I like to go with this motto to not fall into conspiracy theories: Always assume incompetency rather than malice.

I'm shocked at the level of stupidity out there and I've given up long ago the belief that high administrators are somehow smart, because, they must be, right? Right?!

Well, I've talked to a lot of them, albeit locally only, and it's always the same picture: they are far from being bright ... they drunk the cool aid and their ideas aren't theirs, they are part of a system of belief, a religion if you want, centered on money and power.

One may think of it all as some type of grand plan to control the citizens and the country, but in the end it is nothing more than the emergent properties of individual selfish and incompetent actions.

If there is a conspiracy it is one of stupidity and incompetency imho.

PS: of course this isn't contradictory with a few puppet masters at the top riding the waves while thinking they control the ocean ... it has happened in the past civilizations (past is the important word here).
