I'm glad you wrote this post, and I hope that reality (for you) is far less dire than your perceptions. It's frankly heartening to see a journalist who remains true to the purpose of journalism and avoids even the appearance of impropriety.
We live in a time of access to immense information, but very few voices of integrity who separate the signal from the noise.
Thank you for your voice...please check in frequently to let us know your status.
I don't doubt they were trying to bribe you for a second. There is something very wrong going on in Harris County. Keep the pressure on man! We need more Arturo's!
When Harris County cops started to suddenly roll by my house, I was getting nervous. Not long after my article published, my truck was stolen. When we called the cops, they didn't even show up. They gave us a case number over the phone and we never heard from them again.
I believe every word. The Houston Police and Harris County authorities had a bad rep 50 years ago, and I'm sure that everything that's happened since has only made that worse.
I remember defenders of the San Antonio and Austin cops always reminding us that at least they weren't Houston.
The USA has consistently ranked poorly in the world press freedom statistics. Land of the free, my ass. Stay safe, Arturo.
Thanks, fam. I will. I appreciate you.
