Recently, racist text messages from behind the scenes in Republican politics have been making the news. The latest, exposing Trump cabinet member Paul Ingrassia, came just one week after the Young Republican Leaders leadership team’s racist group chats. However, Ingrassia is no stranger to such rhetoric as that exposed by POLITICO on Monday.
Ingrassia was listed in my article for Unicorn Riot earlier this year that exposed the backgrounds of President Donald Trump’s cabinet members. Among the more than two dozen people listed, Igrassia was mentioned for similar language that was uncovered in the latest POLITICO story.
Ingrassia’s widely reported racist past weaponizing Nazism highlights how quickly the White House will overlook racial and ethnic animus among its cabinet members. The pervasiveness of white nationalists, outright racists, and Christian nationalists in the highest office in the land signals just how far backward the United States has gone.
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids, the growing police brutality, and the White House’s war footing all target Black and Latino communities more than others, while putting immigrant communities at risk. The White House has made it abundantly clear that it’s going after all nonwhite people systematically, regardless of immigration status or if they’re native born U.S. citizens.
With the broad overreach and surveillance power of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) behind them, the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC), and the Religious Liberty Commission, the modern-day Klansmen like Ingrassia and other members of the White House have a force like never before.

This is an issue I’ll be covering in greater detail in the next day or two because it’s one that warrants broader discussion. The racism and bigotry that powers the current conservative movement, that is, MAGA, must be acknowledged, addressed, and exposed to take their power away. Strategically, you’d have to be a fool not to use it against the party in general.
Force them to answer for it.
