Great information in here. I always learn something from you! It all is so consistent with the patterns we see everywhere, from the racism to the corruption.
Cuba, Nicaragua, Gaza - the US has a long history of punishing entire populations for their elections or group decisions. This goes back to US Indian policy from the start, where entire peoples were ethnically cleansed over the theft of a cow. They had a word for it: "chastisement." That term began with George Washington. (It actually began even earlier - the Dutch massacred Lenape families in 1643 in NJ over the theft of two pigs.)
I was just telling my husband about the outrageous Reuters headline but I didn't have much historical information to share. My knowledge of Cuba's history is largely from recent reporting on the JFK assassination and how Castro and Meyer Lansky were peripheral to that and from your reporting. I will stay tuned to continue learning about Cuba's history and current geopolitical position from you.
One thing that I find absolutely unsurprising is how diabolical the CIA is. I was raised on the Hollywood propaganda to think we were always the good guys with notable exceptions. Instead, I learn something new every single day that reinforces that we've never in our history been "good guys." Not once. And I've learned there's no such thing as "ex-CIA" or "former intelligence officer" and that their psy ops involving the American public at large are vast in number.
I didn't celebrate the Fourth of July. No truther worth their salt would. (And no, I'm not the antivaxx, "COVID was a hoax" truther, I'm the "all of those government conspiracy theories were/are actual conspiracies" sort.)
Wow, man. As usual, this is DENSE with useful information. A couple observations.
1. The guy Jesus can't-recall-his-last-name speaking as a member of the resistance group in that news clip shows how senseless their approach is. In the same breath, he said they needed to liberate Cuba, so they were terrorizing the tourist areas to drive down the nation's economy and local people's incomes to free them.
2. Rubio: Accepting every Cuban immigrant to the US as an asylum seeker and allowing them social services support upon arrival is inaccurate and unnecessary.
Also Rubio: Cuba is a brutal regime, that's why all the people are fleeing there to get freedom and safety abroad.
Excellent read!
Thank you!

Right? It's been so hard to unsee once I started learning about this. I thank mi abuela for leading me down this path.

I appreciate it. It was republished in India this morning (with my permission).
