Let’s Talk About the Alabama Sweet Tea Party Victory
While many have referred to it as a brawl, most of us have treated it as simply a sporting event
If you’re a pro-Black anti-racist such as myself who is a firm believer that the full liberation of Black people means the liberation of us all, then the fight you’ve surely seen by now that took place on a boat dock in Alabama is something to celebrate. Especially since no one was seriously hurt and everyone walked away. To be perfectly honest, this country has seen more than enough gun violence for a long minute and a brawl was a sight for sore eyes.
Let me be clear about something right up front. I didn’t come up with the “Alabama Sweet Tea Party,” idea. That was Kendria Bland on TikTok who posted a satirical interpretation of the Avengers in a hilarious skit about the fight. And it’s that hilarity that has made this event so much fun. We have all had something to say and it all revolves around the white people who ganged up on the Black man getting everything they deserved. Including the lady who kicked him while he was down.

Here’s the other funny part about it. Racists trying to flip the script aren’t having much success on more open social media platforms. On less popular sites like the encrypted messaging app Telegram, where a large portion of hate groups hide, they’re angry as hell. I mean, when you think about all the physical “training” they do - built on the programming that they’re somehow superior simply because they’re white - that ass-whooping on the dock must really hurt.
Truth is, white supremacists’ ancestors weren’t shit either unless they had a firearm. That was their only advantage during colonization. And when you think about it in terms of the murder of Indigenous people, Black people, Latinos, and other non-white communities due to everything from slavery to hate crimes, it’s sometimes still their only advantage because we all got them now.
So what happens when you take the advantage away and fight fair? That superiority bullshit gets exposed really fast. We all saw it. We’ve seen it throughout history when, for example, a Black man got their hands on Klansmen. Or when Black men defended their communities from hate groups and confronted them, they pissed themselves. What about neo-Nazi Richard Spencer getting punched in the face by an anarchist and crying? And who can forget Chris “Crying Nazi” Cantwell balling like a child because he was about to be arrested for his involvement in Charlottesville?
These guys are weak. Hence all their rage.
The vast majority of racist white people are upset with their station in life and rather than look within themselves to identify where it may have gone wrong, it’s much easier to blame Black people and people of color for what ails them. They overlook the similarities they have with the groups they choose to have animus for because they don’t want to look at themselves. They refuse to act or vote in a way that would benefit them because it may benefit those they hate.
It’s a nonsensical conundrum for morons.
It’s a tale as old as the United States of America. With that said, one thing is certain. Non-white people have had enough of the racist stupidity from white America. And it’s because of that the reaction we saw to a white mob attacking a Black man is more than appropriate and justified. If you look at it from the perspective of a former brawler, like me, it wasn’t only warranted, it was a long time coming.
